"Sunset over Sledge Creek", taken with a
Canon 5D camera, Circa 2006: First photo shoot with
a new camera and lens.
What an incredible day. While I ignored
a bait dangling over the side of my
pontoon boat, I watched the clouds build
color for about 45 minutes as the sun
sank like a silent eye. All told, I must
have taken 400 photographs. Many of them
were purely static shots of cloud
formations to use as painting study
material later on. The new wide-angle
lens performed flawlessly, opening up
the horizon from surface to firmament,
laying it bare. I was amazed.
When the sun finally winked out behind
the
Sledge Creek tree line, my fully engaged
fishing rod jangled me out of my
sunset-enhanced stupor long enough to
catch dinner.
Fish on!

P.S.
To commemorate the occasion, I have a
stunning, 44x66-inch canvas print of
this image hanging on my living room
wall. Every time I walk through the
front door I can almost feel the pontoon
boat swaying underfoot.
